Yoyo games has been created for the future development of Game Maker. It has sparked much controversy notably on the GMC because many people think that it is commercializing Game Maker.

Recently however, Yoyo Games has announced that they plan to port Game Maker to other platforms by rewriting the runner in C++, which has caused much excitement in the Game Maker Community.
